WINDMILL DE DRIE KOORNBLOEMEN

This stone tower windmill was built in 1770. It is the oldest of the distillery windmills in Schiedam. It is the only windmill with a real miller’s house. The interior décor is largely authentic. The house was restored in 1999.

The windmill still regularly turns and grinds. Earlier this windmill also had a so-called peeling function. The windmill, together with the other six in Schiedam, are the largest in the world.

Miller

The volunteer miller, Rens Franken, and his wife live in the miller’s house attached to the windmill. He ensures that the windmill runs often. He has this to say about De Drie Koornbloemen: “De Drie Koornbloemen has had various functions that have left their traces behind. They are not always able to be explained which makes the windmill mysterious!”

Molen De Drie Koornbloemen is only open to the public on some special days.
